Background of MDA

The Multicultural Development Association (MDA) was established in May 1998 to promote multiculturalism and act as a strategic mechanism for the empowerment of people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds through a range of community development, system advocacy, education and training, and through a range of service delivery activities.

We work closely with members of our culturally diverse society, community/multicultural organisations, and government agencies in developing culturally appropriate initiatives and undertaking leadership in furthering multicultural development within Queensland.

MDA is primarily funded by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). Additional funding is also received from Queensland State Government through Multicultural Affairs Queensland (MAQ) and through the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations (DEIR).
