Grants Access Program
MDA’s Grants Access Worker works within the Government and Community Advocacy Team (GCAT) to engage culturally and linguistically diverse communities, particularly new and emerging communities, assist them to build their capacity, and advocate for their needs in relation to grants and funding.
The Grants Access Worker program aims to achieve:
- Increased levels of participation by members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities, particularly small and emerging communities, in government funding programs;
- Increased awareness of grant providers of the barriers found by culturally and linguistically diverse communities in accessing grant programs and strategies to overcome these barriers;
- Increased levels of knowledge and skills to develop applications for grants programs within culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Outcomes:
- To support culturally diverse, small and emerging communities across Queensland in applying for funding to sustain the development of cultural diversity and multiculturalism;
- To work with funding bodies to support their understanding of diverse communities funding needs and access issues;
- Practical training sessions are delivered to small groups to assist them to understand the funding guidelines and learn the skills and knowledge on how to write their funding submissions;
- On going practical support is provided by the Grants Access Worker to groups who decide to go ahead with a grants application, once they have participated in the training program;
- Training of key community people in rural and regional communities in delivering Grants Access writing, mentoring and support is provided in order to boost the capacity of the regions.
