Current volunteer opportunities

Family Match

Our family match volunteers are the cultural bridge for newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers in understanding their new home. Volunteers meet with a family and support neighbourhood and home orientation, English tuition, and cultural understanding of general life in Australia. Volunteers must be able to commit to an hour or two a week for a period of six months and be willing to work within the MDA policies and procedures and family match guidelines.

Drivers - assisting clients to appointments

Our volunteers may be required to utilise one of MDA vehicles so an open license is essential.

Social Outings

Volunteers take groups of newly arrived people to areas of interest such as Southbank, the library, markets, sporting areas and so forth.

Events

Each year MDA, in collaboration with refugee communities, proudly presents the World Refugee Day Festival and Refugee Lantern Parade, in addition to many smaller events.

English Tuition and other Projects change throughout the year, please contact us for more information.
